Restaurant style Chicken 65

Chicken 65 is one famous non vegetarian dish every nonveg lover must have tasted atleast once from that menu card in a restaurant.Ever wondered why its called so?I just looked up the internet and found that the very famous food pioneer A.M Buhari who is the founder of the Buhari chain of hotels in Chennai, India was the one who introduced this dish to the world and it was in 1965 which is why the name Chicken 65.Check here for more details.

  I never tried making this dish before wonder why never felt so.But once i did i thought I must try a fried dish like so each weekend or atleast whenever i can.

Preparation time : 12 hours marination plus cooking time 20 minutes

YOu need

Chicken 250 gms (boneless or on the bone is ok too)
Corn flour 2 tablespoon
1 egg
Green chillies 2 chopped finely
Ginger garlic paste 1 tspoon
Chopped coriander leaves 2 tablespoon
Chopped curry leaves 2 sprigs
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder 1 tspoon
Red food color a pinch (optional)
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
Chopped garlic half tsp
Chopped ginger half tsp

Oil to deep fry
  • To clean and dry chicken add all the ingredients and mix well and allow to rest for 8-10 hours or over night.
  • Heat oil in a pan, drop the chicken pieces one at a time.
  • Fry on medium flame until chicken is crispy on the outside and tender inside until dark golden brown.

Enjoy chicken 65 with roti or rice of your choice or as an entree/starter.
